If you’re doing a themed unit for fall in your speech therapy sessions, then chances are you will be doing a craft or two with your kiddos! To make life easier for you, I’ve searched Pinterest to come up with 5 fun fall crafts for your speech therapy sessions!
Crafts are a great activity in speech therapy for targeting
- Articulation (use craft as reinforcement)
- Following directions
- Prepositions
- Vocabulary
- Descriptive skills
- Verbs (cut/glue/draw/etc.)
- Any target you want because crafts are so open ended!
TIP: The last one is the easiest! And it’s free!
1. Popsicle Stick Scarecrow Puppet
This popsicle stick scarecrow puppet from Glued to My Crafts Blog is absolutely adorable! It may require a lot of pieces, but it will be worth it when kids and families see the masterpiece at the end! You can target following directions, prepositions, vocabulary, etc. as you assemble all the parts!
2. Tissue Paper Pumpkin Craft
This pumpkin craft from Arty Crafty Kids is so easy but has a great effect! You just need some glue and colored tissue paper and you’re set! Perfect craft for group therapy or doing the same craft with lots of kids! Kids can earn tissue paper as a reinforcement for saying their target words or completing language tasks!
3. Apple Stamping Craft
This craft is great for therapy because you get to use a real life object – apples! You can make a whole lesson about apples and apple picking. There are also lots of apple themed activities on TPT! Great reinforcement for the end of an entire session on apples!
4. Easy Paper Plate Pumpkin
Best part about this craft? How simple and easy it is! You only need a few materials. This makes it perfect for therapy! It also makes it a perfect craft for littles or those that need a lot of adult help to complete the craft. And the end product is adorable!
5. Easy Apple 100 Trials Craft
and last but not least! My go-to crafts for my articulation kiddos are ones where I know I can get in at least 100 trials! My kids love using dab markers, regular markers, stamps, etc. to fill up a chart and I can call it a craft! Win win! 🙂
I made this apple craft for FREE so check it out on my TPT page!
I hope this little post was helpful in coming up with some easy fall crafts for kids! I think these will be great for my upcoming fall themed weeks! Now I just have to decide on which craft I want to do 🙂
Happy Fall!
xxx *hugs*
