Spring Speech Therapy Ideas that are Easy and Engaging

Are you looking for some spring speech therapy ideas? Themed therapy is great because it’s research backed, helps build vocabulary in an immersive environment, and ultimately just makes your sessions FUN! Which is key to engagement + student learning!

Spring speech therapy activities should be easy. And as a busy therapist, you probably don’t have time to scour the internet looking for ideas. You need something engaging and effective. So I’ve got you covered!

If you want literacy based activities, check out this post about Spring Themed Books for Speech Therapy.

5 Spring Speech Therapy Ideas

1. Craft Activity For the Whole Caseload

I used this craft with my kids last week and they loved it! My favorite part (and the reason this idea tops the list) is that I bought ONE activity for *almost* my ENTIRE CASELOAD!

I bought it from SLP Britt (link here) and I highly recommend her product! My students enjoyed coloring the flower/umbrella (especially when I let them use dot markers). And I loved that I didn’t have to plan those sessions – I just printed what I needed and we got to work on everyone’s goals!

Here’s a picture if you want to see their cute creations!

2. Digital Preposition Activity

If you’re doing tele-therapy, or your students just love the iPad – then here is a super easy no prep idea!

This is one of my own products, but I bring it out every spring and my kids have tons of fun with it! I specifically designed it to give lots of practice. You go through all of the prepositions as a teaching exercise, then the next round is interactive drag-drop that’s fairly easy. It gets harder with multiple choice questions identifying “where” the butterfly is instead of just putting him where it says. So it’s great for a variety of ages!

3. Build-a-Flower Activities

I saw these on Pinterest and thought how easy they would be! I’m now planning on incorporating them this week in therapy! You can do it on a big white board / smart board, make it into a craft with different colored paper, or just draw it on a blank piece of paper (my plan lol).

Aren’t those cute and fun? And so easy!

4. Spring Sensory Bins

There are so many fun things you could put in a spring sensory bin! You could make it Easter themed with eggs or do a cute garden theme! Bugs would be another great idea! Here are some cute ideas I saw on Pinterest –

5. Get Outside!

Ok this will be a list within a list, but stay with me! Spring is the perfect time to get outside and as we know, language is ALL around us! Plus these activities can make your sessions more play based aka more engaging aka higher learning!

  • Bug hunt
  • Bubbles
  • Chalk
  • Easter egg hunt
  • Garden
  • Pick flowers
  • Play springtime sports like baseball
